CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION IN MARANO AND GRADO LAGOON

ADAPTIVE LOW-LYING COASTAL ZONES
Climate Change Adaptation in Marano and Grado Lagoon
The project examines the vulnerability of low-lying coastal zones to climate change impacts, focusing on the Marano and Grado Lagoon in the North Adriatic Sea’s lagoon-delta system. It emphasizes the need for adaptive measures to address uncertainties and widespread impacts. The research methodology involves analyzing past adaptation projects and developing an adaptive matrix. Then employing a scenario-based implementation process to identify the optimal strategy for the lagoon. The thesis emphasizes learning from past experiences, comparing adaptation strategies, and evaluating their impacts. It highlights the importance of context-specific analyses and approaches to safeguard vulnerable areas from climate change’s multifaceted impacts.
